For the markets who need a self-contained model where electricity is not convenient or available many customers select a machine with the Honda 389cc (13) engine. Our experience has shown the Vanguard 14 engine to far outlast engines like the Honda 13 that are not equipped with an oil filter/pressure lubrication and a twin cylinder engine which cranks up easier and has way less vibration. A very effective strategy we have used has been to educate customers on the characteristics of an industrial level machine. These would include an oil filter, twin cylinder, reserve horsepower, large engine fuel capacity, and an unloader that is replaceable and not mounted in the pump. These characteristic are not part of many brands because the Honda 13 engine is not available with these features and the next size up that has these features is 18hp. The solution Hydro Tek presents has been nicknamed the “Honda Killer” which is the Hydro Tek model SS35003VG pressure washer which has the same pressure and flow as the competitors but with 31cc more power. In addition we install an 8 gallon gas tank for extended run time but do not locate it over the hot engine which is a huge safety concern when refueling if the engine is not cooled down.
